PITTSBURGH — November is getting off to a very mild start across western Pennsylvania with temperatures running well above average through the middle of the week.

Clouds will be common Monday, and while most areas stay dry, a few spotty sprinkles cannot be ruled out. Afternoon temperatures will climb into the upper 60s, several degrees warmer than average for early November.

More sunshine returns Tuesday as temperatures surge into the 70s. The warming trend continues Wednesday, which is shaping up to be the warmest day of the week. High temperatures are expected to reach the middle 70s with a mix of clouds and sunshine.

The next meaningful chance for rain arrives Wednesday night as a weather system approaches from the west. Rain showers are expected to become more widespread overnight and continue into Thursday morning. Periods of rain are likely Thursday, and wet leaves could make roads slippery during the morning commute. Motorists should allow extra travel time and use caution on area roadways.

As the rain exits, cooler air will begin filtering into the region. A few lingering showers remain possible Friday before drier weather takes over. Afternoon highs will fall back into the upper 50s and lower 60s by the end of the week.

The upcoming weekend looks much cooler but generally dry. Expect a mix of clouds and sunshine Saturday and Sunday with afternoon temperatures settling back into the middle 50s, much closer to where they should be for early November.
