PITTSBURGH — Our 11 Cares partners at Clearview Federal Credit Union partnered with the Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh Sunday for their 28th annual Buddy Walk.
This is the second year the walk has been held at Schenley Plaza. Around 2,500 people attended this year’s event.
“We call this our annual family reunion because this is when our community gets a chance to be together and celebrate,” said Shannon Streiner, co-president of the Down Syndrome Association. “We’re all connected in a meaningful way by the extra chromosome.”
All proceeds from the event went to the Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh. You can still donate online through Nov. 30.
The mission of the association is to enrich the lives of individuals with Down syndrome, their families and communities in which they live. The organization achieves their mission through communication, education, advocacy, fellowship and support for the community members’ well-being, as well as through a longstanding alliance with the Pediatric and Adult Down Syndrome Centers of Western PA.
11 Cares is sponsored by Clearview Federal Credit Union, Duquesne Light Company, Highmark Wholecare and 84 Lumber.
