Woman, 76 punched & mugged in church; Police actively searching for suspect

OMAHA, NEBRASKA — Police in Nebraska are asking for the public's help after an elderly woman was attacked inside a church.

The whole thing was all caught on surveillance cameras.

While taking a look at some paperwork, two young men took aim on the woman.

First the purse, then a fist to the face.

The pastor at Saint Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha says the young men were not from the neighborhood.

Police are circulating the video and say the clear view of the suspects' faces should help find them.

Neighbors are anxious as violent crime is rare in the area, especially inside the church.

The pastor wants to keep the church's doors open for those in need but now he's concerned about safety.

The 76-year-old woman was treated at the hospital for her injuries.
