Police seek man accused of assaulting woman outside North Park restroom

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — Allegheny County police officers are looking for the man who beat up a woman as she walked out of a restroom in North Park Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

Officers responded to North Park after receiving a report that someone had been physically assaulted. Chopper 11 showed police activity on Parish Hill at the top of Walters Road. Officers were seen searching an area around a grove of trees and a restroom.%

Allegheny County Police Acting Superintendent James Morton told Channel 11 News that a man pushed the woman to the ground as she was exiting a restroom and then beat her.

"A white female was coming out of that restroom over there. She's 38 years old, and she was assaulted by a white male,” Morton said.

Morton said the woman was taken to a hospital with possible head and hand injuries. She was expected to be OK.%

He said the man officers are seeking is described as a white man in his 20s who is approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. No one was in custody as of Thursday night.

North Park spans more than 3,000 acres, but park visitors said the restroom, where the assault took place, is a fairly remote area.

“I've grown up around here, and it's a beautiful park. We never knew something like this could happen here. It's kind of eye opening,” park visitor Stephen Evelth said.
