Bridge over I-70 in New Stanton closes for replacement

NEW STANTON, Pa. — The closure of a bridge over Interstate 70 in New Stanton that was scheduled for early March has been moved up to Monday.

Work to replace the bridge, which carries Center Avenue over I-70, is part of improvements being made along the Interstate 70 corridor.

Crews were able to complete preparation work for the bridge replacement ahead of schedule because of unseasonably warm weather, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The closure is expected to last for about three and a half months.

Drivers will detour by following Pennsylvania Avenue to the new I-70 interchange and Bair Boulevard.

On March 6, the Sewickley Creek Bridge is scheduled to close for deck replacement.
