PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Regional Transit — formerly the Port Authority of Allegheny County — announced it will soon begin a $6.7 million rehabilitation project on a section of its South Busway, a portion of its network that’s only available to buses and light rail vehicles.
Come July 8, work is expected to begin on a two-mile span of the busway between the Pioneer Avenue Ramp and the South Bank Station. That work is expected to last until at least the fall of 2023, with the first phase likely to be completed by November 2022.
PRT is contracting Lindy Paving Inc. for the project, which includes paving, concrete repairs, the construction of new accessibility ramps, the reconstruction of curbs and the repainting of a railroad bridge. Funding for the project is coming from PRT’s $233 million capital budget.
