Two Pittsburgh-area hospitals ranked in nation’s top 250 by Healthgrades

PITTSBURGH — Two of Pittsburgh’s hospitals made Healthgrades’ list of the best 250 hospitals in the U.S. in 2022.

Healthgrades, which measures hospitals’ performance by looking at patient outcomes and accounting for various risk factors, ranks the top 250, top 100 and top 50 hospitals in the nation.

UPMC St. Margaret, located in Aspinwall, made the list, with 78% of patients saying they would “definitely recommend” the hospital. This figure is 8% higher than the national average. St. Margaret’s was also included on Healthgrades’ 100 best hospitals for orthopedic surgery list, and it received Healthgrades’ gastrointestinal surgery excellence award, joint replacement excellence award, pulmonary care excellence award and surgical care excellence award for 2022.

Allegheny Health Network’s Forbes Hospital, located in Monroeville, also made the list. 74% of patients said they would definitely recommend the hospital, which is 4% higher than the national average. Forbes Hospital also made the top 100 lists for cardiac care and gastrointestinal surgery. The hospital received awards in 2022 from Healthgrades for critical care excellence, gastrointestinal care excellence, pulmonary care excellence and stroke care excellence.
