Daughter Of Shaler Murder-Suicide Suspect Talks To WPXI

SHALER TOWNSHIP, Pa.,None — Police have identified the victims in a triple murder-suicide that was reported in Shaler late Sunday night.

Police said they believe the suspect, Barry Hardesty, 43, shot his girlfriend, their child and the woman's other child before fatally shooting himself at their Beulah Street home at about 10:30 p.m.

The medical examiner identified the victims as Linette Gasparre, 38, Quinn Gasparre, 7, and Nina Gasparre-Hardesty, 1.

Channel 11 News spoke with Hardesty's daughter, Alexis, who said there were arguments in the house but she never saw a violent side to her father.

"I love my dad, and I'm just in complete shock," Alexis Hardesty said. "I feel terrible for everyone, like Lynn's family and everybody. I'm sorry. I don't have any answers."

Alexis said her father was taking medication for depression, but police still haven't determined a motive in the killings.

Quinn Gasparre was found in a hallway of the home and bodies of the mother and Nina were found on a bed, according to Shaler Township Police Chief Jeff Gally.

All of the victims were shot in the head.

The suspect's body was found on the bedroom floor. Police said he may have still been breathing when investigators arrived but soon died.

Investigators recovered a .357-caliber handgun from the house.

"It's not a pretty scene," said Gally. "I get concerned about first responders. It's something you don't experience every day, no matter what your line of work."

Neighbors told Channel 11 News the couple was throwing a football in their yard and chasing the children around hours before the killings.

"It's a rented home, and as far as we can tell, they just moved in here three or four weeks ago," Gally said. "We have no indication as to what caused this tragedy."

Neighbor said they heard arguing and then four gunshots.

"It was like, 'Pop, pop, pop,'" said neighbor Nick Skalos. "They were loud, and I jumped. It scared me at first."

Gally said the Hardesty didn't have a criminal record in Allegheny County.
