GREENSBURG: St. Michael's Festival

GREENSBURG, Pa.,None — Michael's Festival

Sunday September 12, 2010

A Delicious Blend of Cultures and Cuisines Devoted fans and past attendees are once again looking forward to sampling the delicious multi-ethnic fare offered at the annual St. Michael's Festival on Sunday September 12th.

As always, this year's Festival will feature St. Michael's signature lamb shish-ka-bob and roasted half-chicken entrees, along with other Middle Eastern and Greek crowd favorites including kibbee, stuffed grapeleaves, gyros, lubee (green beans in a specially seasoned tomato sauce), spanakopita and much more. Guests can also stop by the Bake Sale to satisfy their sweet tooth and stock up on tasty breads and pastries prepared by St. Michael's talented bakers. In addition to the ever-popular nut and apricot rolls, the Bake Sale will feature a mouth-watering array of ethnic pastries, including baklava, Syrian Bread, and simboosic cookies and other home-made baked goods.

Church tours will be offered during the day, led by the Very Reverend Archpriest Fr. John Nosal, pastor of St. Michael's, along with renowned iconographer and parishioner Nicholas Papas, whose work is found in numerous Orthodox churches across the U.S., including St. Michael's.

According to Fr. John, it's this unique blend of cultures and talents that makes St. Michael's Festival so special. In his opinion, "It's the best Middle Eastern and Greek food you'll find in Westmoreland County – along with inspiring beauty and artistry of the iconography in our church".

The Festival will run from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday September 12th, at St. Michael's Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, located at the Cedar Street exit off Route 30 in Greensburg.
