Hampton Township Named One Of 10 Best Towns In America

HAMPTON TOWNSHIP, Pa.,None — Family Circle Magazine has recognized Hampton Township as one of the 10 Best Towns for Families in 2010.

The honor was bestowed on the township in an article featured in the August edition of the magazine, on newsstands now.

Hampton Township ranked at No. 2.

Family Circle used data on population, median income, median home price, households with children, the student/teacher ratio and Great Schools Rating to determine its top 10 list.

Hampton Township's population is 17,047, with 38 percent of those households having children. The District was the only one in the top 10 list to have earned a perfect 10 score from Great Schools Rating.

A major contributing factor to Hampton's ranking in the article is its "stellar schools." The article highlights a student-teacher ratio of 16:1, with a Great Schools Rating of 10.

Under a section titled "Good Deeds," a recent fundraiser students organized for a middle school teacher is mentioned. The teacher's home was lost in a fire last Christmas. Students raised $12,000 through various fund raising efforts to donate to their teacher.

"We are truly thrilled to be recognized by Family Circle Magazine as one of the very best communities for raising a family," said Dr. John Hoover, District Superintendent. "Additionally, we are very pleased that the recognition was attributable not only to our outstanding academic performance, but also to the spirit of the Hampton Community, which includes the strong desire to reach out and help others."

"We are extremely proud of our students and most appreciative that the "well-kept secret" of Hampton is finally receiving national acclaim," Hoover said.

The article is the latest in a string of others that have recognized Hampton Township School District in the last year. The District also ranked in Newsweek Magazine as among the nation's best, and Forbes Magazine as one of the 25 best school areas for housing values.
