PITTSBURGH — After a lengthy 16-month investigation, Pittsburgh Police announced the arrests of 20-year-old Kendall McKoy from the Hill District and 23-year-old Da’rohn Winmon, of Penn HIlls.

They’re charged with murdering Kristofer Metzger, who was shot and killed along Zephyr Avenue in Sheraden while he was driving for Uber in March of 2021.

The Metzger family told Channel 11 that even following the arrests, many of their questions for police are unanswered.

The family said police still have not shared any information about a potential motive.

But Mayor Ed Gainey said he’s proud of the progress Pittsburgh Police made in this case.

“These last couple of weeks we’ve seen that police are catching these violent offenders and that’s the main thing, getting them off the streets so that they don’t do this again,” Gainey said, offering his condolences to the Metzger family Friday.

“Number one we want to pray for the family, that’s number one, and we always said when we capture someone that’s done this terrible, horrific tragedy, that one, that’s the healing process for the family, that it begins,” said Gainey.

Pittsburgh Police worked with U.S. Marshals throughout this case.

A department spokesperson released a statement saying, “An enormous amount of work and diligence went into this investigation and Pittsburgh Police are grateful for the ongoing law enforcement partnerships that helped contribute to these arrests.”

In addition to homicide, McKoy and Winmon face a series of other charges including weapons violations.
