Father and son facing charges after Thursday night shooting in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — A father and son are facing charges after a late night shooting on Thursday in Pittsburgh’s Perry North neighborhood.

51-year-old Kurt Ianuzzo and 22-year-old Jake Ianuzzo have been charged with criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure.

According to the criminal complaint, the shooting happened as a result of a fight between tow truck drivers. One of the victims was a tow truck driver who arrived at the scene of an accident on Route 65 earlier that night, where both Kurt and Jake Ianuzzo were towing vehicles.

The criminal complaint says that an argument broke out between the drivers at the scene, and that the victim left the accident, but went to Kurt’s home on Woods Run Ave at 10:40 p.m. with their sibling and confronted the father and son.

Reports say that Kurt and Jake both allegedly exited the house and began shooting at the victims, striking one of them in the ankle.

Another victim was located near the scene in their home, after being shot in the back while watching TV. Investigators saw surveillance video showing that Kurt and Jake were shooting towards the direction of that house. That victim was transported to the hospital, in critical condition.

Police say that Kurt Ianuzzo said that his son had nothing to do with the incident, and that he shot because he was shot at first. Surveillance video showed police that the victims did not appear to have any weapons or point firearms in the Ianuzzo’s direction.

Both the father and son are currently in Allegheny County jail.
