GREENE COUNTY, Pa. — Two local youth football coaches have been banned from school property after getting into a scuffle on the Mapletown Junior/Senior High School field, according to Southeastern Greene School District’s superintendent.
John Johnston said aside from his physical injuries following the fight, he’s now out of a job and banned from school property, which means he can’t watch his son play his senior year of football.

"I can understand being dismissed from football, but you don't take me away from my son on his senior year,” he said.
According to Johnston, he and another coach confronted each other after Johnston’s team took photos on the field. He said they got into an argument over some word they exchanged about where their respective teams practiced.
State police said the other coach, Gary Evans, began shoving Johnston. They were both charged with harassment.
"We went back and forth. This man shoves me. After he shoves me I said, 'Gary, we've been friends forever. You know I have a heart condition. You know I’m disabled.’ And he said, ‘I don’t care if you’re disabled,’” Johnston said.
Evans declined to comment on the matter.
Channel 11 News learned that other coaches separated the pair, who later talked out the matter.
"I shook his hand and said, ‘I'm sorry, Gary.’ He shook my hand and said, ‘I'm sorry.’ We went our separate ways,” Johnston said.
Regardless, Southeastern Greene School District Superintendent Rich Pekar decided to ban both men from school property indefinitely.
"That type of behavior will not be tolerated by the school district, and both individuals are currently banned from campus,” Pekar said.
