Pine-Richland school board candidates file police report after they say campaign signs destroyed

WEXFORD, Pa. — Two incumbent candidates for the Pine Richland School Board say for the second time in two weeks they have had their political signs tampered with.

Three large signs were destroyed Saturday night.

Whoever is destroying the signs is using paint to cover them up, the candidates say.

Marc Casciani and Greg DiTullio say they are saddened by what’s going on in the Wexford community where their political signs for the May primary seem to be a target. The two are running for re-election for the Pine-Richland school board.

Casciani says he believes he is being specifically targeted because of his conservative beliefs.

“I think it’s a pretty safe assumption that it would be those who don’t agree with our values and our views on certain things. We’re pretty open about our conservative values and frankly about our faith as well, and I think that is probably behind this,” said Casciani.

The pair say that 45 of their smaller yard signs were stolen in the overnight hours after they put them out last Saturday, prompting them to file a police report. Then, three larger signs were put up, all on private property, only to have someone paint over them.

“Yesterday they were put up. They were still good at 1 a.m. because somebody saw them at 1 a.m. By 5:50 a.m. they were vandalized, so it was targeted at night and it was only our signs,” said DiTullio.

DiTullio says he reached out to the Northern Regional Police Department again to document the most recent issue. Both say it’s disheartening.

“If you have a different view than me, if you don’t like my views or Marc’s views, don’t support us. But at the same time if your views are different than mine I want to hear them and you should want to hear mine,” said DiTullio.
