Robinson Township firefighters rescue young man from creek bank, warn people to avoid the area

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Robinson Township firefighters had to rescue a young man from a creek on Saturday.

Firefighters were called to the Allegheny Health Network Montour sports complex for reports of a young man in critical condition on the bank of the Montour Run Creek, which runs behind the building.

The company used a stokes basket with ropes attached to it to get the young man across the creek.

Firefighters say the area is known as the “Groveton Swimming Hole” and say that multiple serious injuries have happened there. They say there have been impalements on rebar in the past. They also remind anyone who wants to swim in the area that the water is currently running cold and they need to be careful to avoid hypothermia.

The public is asked to consider a safer area to swim in.
