Children's Hospital shoeshine man retiring after 32 years

PITTSBURGH — After shining shoes for more than three decades at Children’s Hospital, Albert Lexie is retiring.

Staff members and families gathered Tuesday to say goodbye to Lexie, who has committed his life to raising money for the Free Care Fund at Children’s Hospital by donating all of the tips he earns.

Since he started in 1981, Lexie has raised more than $200,000.
