City of Pittsburgh announces pool schedule for last few weeks of summer

PITTSBURGH — The City of Pittsburgh is adjusting its outdoor pool operations as the summer season comes to a close, transitioning to a reduced schedule beginning this Monday.

CitiParks outdoor pools will continue operating on their full current schedule through this Sunday, Aug. 16.

The schedule adjustment is occurring as seasonal lifeguards and aquatics staff return to school. Following the shift on Monday, six specific outdoor pools—Bloomfield, Highland, Jack Stack, Magee, Moore and Ream—will maintain operating hours through Labor Day on Sept. 7.

CitiParks Director Eric Sloan acknowledged the staff efforts required to maintain operations throughout the summer season.

“Keeping our pools open and accessible throughout the summer takes an incredible amount of work from our lifeguards, aquatics staff and teams across the City,” Sloan said. “As many of our seasonal staff return to school, we’re adjusting our schedule while continuing to provide opportunities for residents and families to enjoy our pools through Labor Day. We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this a safe, welcoming and successful summer at pools across Pittsburgh.”

During the summer of 2026, Pittsburgh operated 17 outdoor pools, including the reopening of the long-shuttered Homewood Pool. The city also added new chairs and loungers across all of its outdoor pool facilities.

Mayor Corey O’Connor commented on the season’s facility operations and upcoming plans.

“We were proud to open 17 pools across Pittsburgh this summer, including the long-shuttered Homewood Pool, while also making improvements to the pool experience with new chairs and loungers in all of our outdoor facilities,” O’Connor said. “As the outdoor season winds down, we’re keeping six pools open through Labor Day. With aquatic programming also returning to Oliver Bath House in September, Pittsburghers will have opportunities to stay active in the water well into the fall.”

City aquatic programming will move indoors with the reopening of the Oliver Bath House on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
