HOMEWOOD BOROUGH, Pa. — Flames tore through a Beaver County restaurant Thursday night.
Beaver County dispatchers confirmed crews were called to Giuseppe’s Tuscany Grill on Big Beaver Boulevard in Homewood Borough at 9:25 p.m.
Beaver Falls Fire Chief Mark Stowe told Channel 11 that when his crews arrived on the scene, they saw heavy smoke coming from the building. Within minutes, flames were showing and a portion of the roof collapsed.
“Conditions deteriorated pretty rapidly, and we did evacuate all of our firefighters. They all were able to get out without any injuries,” said Beaver Falls Fire Chief Mark Stowe.
Stowe told Channel 11 crews were at the scene for more than five hours, with temperatures plummeting and water freezing instantly.
The restaurant was closed for an hour before the fire broke out. No one was injured.
It was a sobering sight for Sienna Brogdon-Humphrey, as she came to see what was left of her family’s restaurant Friday morning.
“…Looking in there right now, I can see, like, memories flashing through my head, thinking about running around the bar as a kid,” Humphrey said. “We had, like, a true family. Our regulars came to Christmas at our house. It’s unexplainable.”
The family is unsure if they’ll rebuild, as they try to come to terms with everything.
“My pap-pap put his heart and soul into it, and he passed away a couple years ago, so it’s almost like losing him again,” Humphrey said.
The State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
