PITTSBURGH — A person is dead after a crash inside the Fort Pitt Tunnel overnight.
A Pennsylvania State Police spokesperson said the crash took place inside the tunnel just after midnight.
The spokesperson confirmed the crash was fatal.
The PSP investigation determined a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and rear-ended a commercial vehicle.
The eastbound (inbound) lanes of the Fort Pitt Tunnel were closed for more than three hours after the incident.
