Funeral held for missing Bridgeville man found dead on North Shore

PITTSBURGH,None — Funeral services were held today for a man whose body was found along the Ohio River more than a month after he was reported missing.

After weeks of posting fliers and billboards in and around the area of Stage AE, where Jimmy Slack, 25, was last seen at a String Cheese Incident concert, family members said their fears were realized.

"I tried to prepare for the news, but you can't prepare for this kind of pain," said Slack's sister, Maureen Shields. "It just doesn't seem real."

Investigators said a RiverQuest employee spotted Slack's body near the banks of the river by the Carnegie Science Center. His body was found about a quarter-mile away from where police said he and a friend got separated at a concert on Dec. 6.

"We prayed for closure. Now that we have it, we don't want it," Laura Slack, Slack's sister said. "I just don't think we ever prepared ourselves for life without him. It was the three of us."

Slack's sisters said he was a kind, gentle and funny man. They said they do not suspect foul play and believe his death was an unfortunate accident.

The medical examiner is waiting on the results of a toxicology test to determine Slack's cause of death.
