PENN HILLS, Pa. — Crews battle a large house fire in Penn Hills late Wednesday night.
The fire broke out around 11 p.m. at a home in the 70 block of Orin Street.
First responders arriving on scene observed fire coming from the rear of the building. Neighbors informed emergency personnel that a resident was missing, prompting firefighters to attempt an interior search.
Deteriorating conditions inside the structure pushed search teams back. Subsequent primary and secondary searches were negative before the resident was found safely outside a short time later.
Frankstown Road was closed in all directions for about 2 hours while emergency crews worked at the scene.
The Penn Hills Fire Marshal ruled the fire accidental.
The American Red Cross is assisting the resident following the fire.
