Former Washington County high school employee sentenced on child porn charges

PETERS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A former Washington County high school employee has been sentenced on federal child porn charges.

Jason Waynes Ayres, 48, was sentenced to four to eight years in prison on Monday.

Ayres was an IT employee at Peters Township High School and pleaded guilty to two felony counts of sexual abuse of children.

The Attorney General’s Office Child Predator Unit arrested Ayres in July, 2025. Police reported finding disturbing downloaded videos, including of children between four and six years old.

“This defendant worked among students and in a school setting while he possessed at his home files depicting horrific acts involving young children,” Attorney General Dave Sunday said. “Anyone who possesses or shares this content is abusing and exploiting kids, and my office will not tolerate such behavior.” Police say he also admitted to searching for child pornography and used terms like “pre-teen” and “jailbait.”

According to the criminal complaint, Ayres admitted to police that he had been viewing child porn on and off for a couple of years, including AI-generated child porn, which is also illegal in Pennsylvania, after he was arrested.

Ayres must register as a sex offender for 15 years after his release.
