PITTSBURGH — More than 2,500 runners and walkers gathered at Pittsburgh International Airport Saturday, setting an attendance record for the 2026 FlyBy 5K and 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk.
Participants ran and walked along the airport taxiway, giving them a close view of aircraft and airfield equipment. All proceeds from the race benefit the Allegheny County Airport Authority Charitable Foundation.
“We were thrilled to see our biggest turnout yet at this sold‑out FlyBy 5K,” said Jim Popovich, CEO of run organizer P3R. “From families and first‑time runners to competitive athletes and aviation fans, thousands came together to share a rare and exciting experience on the airport tarmac. At P3R, our mission is to inspire any and all to MOVE and this event is a great example of how we can make movement fun, accessible and memorable for the entire community.”
Following the race, participants attended a post-race festival on airport grounds. The festival featured a touch-a-truck display with airport equipment, face painting, lawn games, food and drinks.
