High school student on autism spectrum attends prom after online community rallies behind him

PITTSBURGH — Thursday was a special night for seniors at Brashear High School, as prom was held at the Carnegie Science Center.

11 News told you last month about Jordan, a senior in the autistic support program at the school, who planned to attend the event, but his date backed out, so his mom turned to Facebook for help.

Through the power of social media, Jordan’s mom found a new date, Izabella.

“We’re glad that he found a date that he looks so great with and he’s all about showing off,” said Jordan’s mom, Donna.

Donna’s post seeking a date for Jordan was shared more than 1,000 times and with hundreds of comments, from classmates to strangers, all wanting to be his lucky prom date.
