PITTSBURGH — Firefighters rescued a woman from a burning home in Pittsburgh’s Bloomfield neighborhood Saturday.
It happened around 4 p.m. in the 300 block of Taylor Street, according to the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department.
When fire crews arrived, they saw smoke coming from the home’s first and second floors.
Officials say a woman was trapped on a second-floor rear balcony, and firefighters had to use a ladder to get her down.
Medics treated her on scene for smoke inhalation.
A firefighter’s hand was injured during the incident, but he returned to work soon afterward.
No other injuries were reported, and only the one home was damaged.
Local effects makeup artist Jason Baker confirmed on social media that the home belongs to effects wizard Tom Savini.
The fire’s cause is still under investigation, but officials say an electrical appliance may have failed in the first-floor dining room, igniting the blaze.
