CORAOPOLIS, Pa. — A 5-foot-by-5-foot mural created by high school student Vanessa Bosetti was unveiled Thursday at the McDonald’s restaurant in Coraopolis.
Bosetti received a $1,000 award for her winning artwork, which was selected as part of the restaurant’s Golden Arches Mural Program in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
The program invited art students from Cornell High School and Sto-Rox Junior Senior High School to create artwork blending McDonald’s nostalgia with their personal interpretations of Coraopolis.
In addition to Bosetti’s award, the art departments at both Cornell High School and Sto-Rox Junior Senior High School received a $500 grant to support future creative projects.
The program was organized in partnership with local McDonald’s owner and operator Sam Nwagbo. Nwagbo commended the participating students following the unveiling.
“These students poured their hearts into their work and it shows,” Nwagbo said. “At McDonald’s, we’re proud to support local schools and celebrate the culture and creativity that make Coraopolis such a special place.”
Bosetti’s winning piece will remain on display at the Coraopolis restaurant. Artwork created by other participating students from both high schools will also be displayed at the location.
