Man accused of raping woman on Pittsburgh’s South Side taken into custody in New York, sources say

Larry Pappy Johnson

A man accused of raping an unconscious woman on Pittsburgh’s South Side has been taken into custody in New York City, sources tell 11 Investigates.

Pittsburgh police detectives have been searching for Larry Pappy Johnson after police say he dragged an unconscious woman into a parking lot off South 14th Street. According to investigators, surveillance cameras show Johnson raping the woman, stealing her purse and leaving her there naked.

The woman told police that she remembers having a drink, then waking up in the hospital with barely any recollection of the time in between.

Over the past few days, Johnson appears to have made several social media posts. In one of them, he’s singing to the camera. In another, he’s dancing in front of a mirror.

Channel 11 looked into his criminal history and uncovered that Johnson was charged with attempted homicide in 2019 for a stabbing in the South Side.

We’re working to find out more about Johnson’s arrest and when he will be brought back to Pittsburgh.
