PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police have filed charges against the man, they said, who shot a car passing by in the early morning hours of August 23.
Surveillance cameras captured the moments Allen Davis shot the car heading north along West Liberty Avenue around 1:45 a.m., according to investigators.
Moe Goraya owns West Liberty Beer & Tobacco and the plaza where it’s located in Brookline.
He showed Channel 11 surveillance video from the incident. In that video, you can see a man, later identified as Davis, pacing back and forth. The red Chevy Cruze he was riding in is parked in front of Advance Auto Parts.
“[It was] pretty crazy…that’s all I can say about it,” Goraya said. “[He was] screaming and yelling, beating up his own car, and then pulls out a gun and shoots towards the traffic.”
Court documents said surveillance video shows Davis reach into the Cruze, pull out a gun, extend his arm, and shoot, hitting a vehicle passing by. The driver and passenger later told police they heard a loud pop. Police told Channel 11 the passenger initially believed he had been shot but was actually unharmed.
“Three other cars passed by, and then he shot at the third one,” Goraya said. “Advance Auto Parts found the bullet casing in the parking lot, and he’s the one who called the police.”
Police also got surveillance video at B & J’s Bar and Grill, further down West Liberty, where investigators believe Davis was before and after the shooting. Court documents said he fought with someone inside before leaving and driving to the shopping plaza down the road.
This isn’t the first time a crime has occurred at or near Goraya’s business. Channel 11 obtained surveillance video of three people robbing his store at gunpoint a couple of years ago. Goraya plans to install even more security cameras after this most recent incident.
“Luckily, nothing happened to anybody, any of the customers, anybody,” Goraya said.
Davis is facing several charges. At last check, he was not in police custody.
