Police said a City of Pittsburgh garbage truck heading east on the Tri-Boro Expressway rear-ended a Mitsubishi Mirage stopped at the red light on Grant Street. The garbage truck continued through the intersection and hit a Chevrolet Colorado before overturning.
A tire flew off the Colorado and hit an unoccupied Turtle Creek police car.
Detectives are still working to determine what caused the crash.
