McKEESPORT, Pa. — A convenience mart in McKeesport is posted with a consumer alert after multiple high-risk violations were flagged during a recent inspection.
In all, inspectors noted 10 violations in an Oct. 27 report about the McKees Mart location on Walnut Street.
Of those violations, three are considered high-risk of causing foodborne illness: food source/condition, cold holding temperatures and pest management.
The report details finding food chewed on by rodents, crates of milk, eggnog, and eggs stored out of temperature control, and evidence of an active rodent infestation in the facility — like mouse droppings and chew holes.
Some lower risk violations include water-stained ceiling tiles, accumulating garbage and open bait beneath bags of merchandise.
The consumer alert will be active for the next 10 days; if violations persist afterwards, the facility may be ordered closed.
