18-year-old killed in motorcycle crash on Veterans Bridge on-ramp

PITTSBURGH — The Veterans Bridge on-ramp from Route 28 was shut down after a fatal motorcycle accident Wednesday afternoon.

Dispatchers confirmed that just before 1 p.m. there was a report of a motorcycle accident on the Veterans Bridge. When first responders arrived, they found a motorcyclist up on the bridge, but their bike had gone over the guide rail and dropped approximately 50 feet below onto busy Route 28.

Channel 11 News was there as officers from Pittsburgh and state police fanned out across the highway blocking traffic in both directions as they rushed that driver to the hospital and worked to figure out what caused the crash.

State police have identified the victim as Carson Glasier, 18, from Fort Myers, Florida. He was taken to UPMC Mercy where he later died from his injuries.
