Penn Hills apartment fire deemed ‘suspicious,’ under investigation

PENN HILLS, Pa. — A fire in Penn Hills on Wednesday morning is being considered “suspicious.”

Crews were alerted to a house fire in the 50 block of Pride Road around 3:45 a.m.

Police arrived on scene and found the front door on fire.

The Penn Hills No. 7 Volunteer Fire Company said crews later found and contained a minor extension into the neighboring apartment.

The Red Cross is assisting one person who lived inside the apartment.

Fire officials deemed the fire suspicious, and an investigation is now underway.
