CONOY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Drive into Conoy Township -- a small town in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania -- and you’re greeted by a welcome sign.
However, the welcome sign also posts a warning: “THIS IS NOT A GUN FREE ZONE.”
According to a FoxNews.com article, there are a dozen of the signs on all of the major roadways entering the small town of about 3,000 people.
Officials say the signs are meant to give would-be criminals a warning.
Stephen Mohr, one of the township's five supervisors, told FoxNews.com that they unanimously decided to put the signs up.
"I think even those who have bad intentions can read," Mohr told FoxNews.com.
The sign is apparently meant to welcome good people to the town.
"What we're telling people is that when they do come here, they should feel safer knowing that everyone in the township is watching out for them," Mohr told FoxNews.com.
