PITTSBURGH — During a roundtable discussion on Tuesday, elected officials and workforce leaders pushed for more statewide funding for workforce development.
The panel took place at Acrisure Stadium during a Youth Workforce Development Roundtable, which featured state Sen. Devlin Robinson, R-Pittsburgh, Partner4Work CEO Rob Cherry, Rebecca O’Shea, deputy director of policy and strategy at the Pennsylvania Workforce Development Association, Dan LaVallee, associate vice president of community engagement at UPMC Health Plan, and Director of Auberle’s Employment Institute Abby Wolensky.
The panel also included Deion Books, a participant in Auberle’s Employment Institute. The Pittsburgh roundtable followed a youth workforce roundtable held in Lancaster County.
The discussion comes as PWDA calls for statewide investment in youth workforce development, including a proposed $25 million Pennsylvania Youth Career Pathways Initiative designed to expand career-connected opportunities for young people across the state.
