PITTSBURGH — The Pitt Panthers held their annual kickoff luncheon at Acrisure Stadium.
This year, the Panthers are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1976 national championship team.
Al Romano, a member of that team, was a speaker at the event.
Athletic director Allen Greene talked about his hopes for this season for Pitt, after spending time with some of the players.
“I happened to be standing with the running backs and we were talking through what they were seeing. They were also talking through just about leadership and it’s really cool to just be around these young men and -- they’re still kids, but they’re also young men -- and to think about how committed they are to each other, how committed they are to this team, and how much they want to win,” Greene said.
The Panthers open the season on Sept. 5th against Miami of Ohio.
