Lowe is joined by Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Brice Turang as a finalist for the position. If selected, Lowe would become the third Pirates second baseman to win a Silver Slugger Award since the honor was created in 1980, joining Johnny Ray in 1983 and Neil Walker in 2014.

In his first year with Pittsburgh, Lowe hit .260 with 29 doubles, 35 home runs and 96 RBIs in 150 games. He ranked sixth among all National League players in home runs, tied for seventh in extra-base hits with 65 and total bases with 288, ninth in RBIs and 10th in slugging percentage at .493. Among all Major League Baseball second basemen, Lowe ranked first in home runs with 33, slugging percentage at .499 and OPS at .831. His 33 home runs while playing second base set a Pirates franchise record since 1887, surpassing Walker, who hit 23 home runs from the position in 2014.

The Pirates acquired Lowe from the Tampa Bay Rays on Dec. 19, 2025, along with Jake Mangum and Mason Montgomery. His 35 total home runs marked the second-most by any player in their first season with Pittsburgh in franchise history, behind only Brian Giles, who hit 39 home runs in

1999. Lowe also became one of nine players in franchise history to hit at least 35 home runs in a single season, joining Ralph Kiner, Frank Thomas, Dick Stuart, Willie Stargell, Giles, Jason Bay, Pedro Álvarez and Josh Bell.

Lowe is Pittsburgh’s first Silver Slugger finalist since Bryan Reynolds in 2024. If selected, he would become the 12th different player or pitcher in franchise history to win the award, joining past winners Don Robinson, Ray, Rick Rhoden, Bobby Bonilla, Andy Van Slyke, Barry Bonds, Jay Bell, Jack Wilson, Andrew McCutchen, Álvarez and Walker. In addition to his Silver Slugger selection, Lowe was Pittsburgh’s nominee for Major League Baseball’s Roberto Clemente Award. He also earned his first career Gold Glove Award nomination at second base alongside Turang and St. Louis Cardinals second baseman JJ Wetherholt.

Louisville Slugger will announce the Silver Slugger Award winners on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
