PITTSBURGH — The community came together after a recent string of violence across the city.
“The past week was a bit of an anomaly,” Pittsburgh Police Chief Jason Lando told Channel 11.
Pittsburgh Police Chief Jason Lando reflected on last week’s violence as he spoke with reporters on Monday.
Despite the three deadly shootings in 24 hours last week, Chief Lando told Channel 11 — crime stats are actually going down in the city.
“We did see three very unfortunate incidents that did result in someone’s death, but we continue to see, looking back from 2020 to now, a very drastic reduction in homicides,” he added.
Channel 11 was at each of those deadly scenes, where two men were murdered in separate shootings in Homewood.
And on that same day, a woman was shot and killed in Bedford Dwellings.
“No homicide is ok. We have been on a very significant downward trend if you look at the past 5 years,” he added.
