PITTSBURGH — Over half of PNC’s geographically tied corporate loans are coming from its expansion markets, product cross-selling is accelerating faster than anticipated and revenue from new branches is tracking at — or above — internal targets.

That’s how PNC President Mark Wiedman made the case for the bank’s organic growth strategy at the annual Barclays Global Financial Services Conference in New York.

Granted, the acquisition of FirstBank, which closed in January with conversion wrapping on June 22, is a factor. Colorado — where PNC had a minor presence pre-deal — is now its fastest growing market for asset management, Wiedman said. Asset management, wealth management and private banking are all key products PNC is touting in its newest regions.
