CONNELLSVILLE, Pa. — State police said a Connellsville man was killed when a runaway tow truck smashed into his vehicle.
The tow truck, owned by Abel Brothers of Malvern, was hauling New York police bomb squad vehicle when the driver lost control Monday evening on a steep stretch of Route 31 known as Three Mile Hill in Bullskin Township, about 35 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

The tow truck hit a sport-utility vehicle, killing the driver, 54-year-old Gregory Detar.
Police are trying to determine whether the tow truck was speeding before the crash. Channel 11 News is not naming the driver because he has not been charged or cited.
An employee for Abel Brothers said the company isn't commenting during the investigation. The company provides long-distance towing services.
