Emergency responders were dispatched shortly after 10 p.m. to Airbrake Avenue. The victim, Isaiah Coleman, was shot once in the chest.
Police said they are searching for two young men seen running from the scene by witnesses.
On Thursday, police brought in a specially trained gun dog to search for the weapon used to kill Coleman. After an hour-long search, the dog found two guns.
Allegheny County homicide detectives also interviewed neighbors, asking what they heard and saw that night.
“I pulled up at midnight, that's when I noticed that character walking down the middle of the street,” said Denise Jones, neighbor.
Family members of Coleman told Channel 11's Dave Bondy that they are devastated and want answers.
Investigators have not said what motive there may have been in the shooting.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit at 412-473-1300.
