JEANNETTE, Pa. — Reenactors returned to the Bushy Run Battlefield and Museum Saturday for the first time since a tornado damaged the grounds over the summer.
Saturday’s event was the first of its kind at the battlefield. It was a living history event that recreated an 18th-century frontier trading post, including weapons, tools and trade goods. Reenactors and educators were on hand to answer questions and help explain some of the history of the region.
Although the battlefield reopened in September, this was the first public program of any kind since the tornado.
The battlefield’s marquee event, the Battle of Bushy Run, which organizers canceled last year because of tornado damage on the battlefield, is planned for the first weekend in August.
