The Smithsonian National Zoo wants your input on what they should name their red panda cub.
The zoo, located in Front Royal, Virginia, recently welcomed a female cub.
The animal care team has introduced three names for her, but the zoo wants the public to have the final say.
The names are:
- Dolly - inspired by country music legend Dolly Parton
- Pyra - meaning “heat” in Greek
- Dolpa - a region of Nepal that is home to wild red pandas and where the AZA’s SAFE Red Panda program is actively working to conserve the animals.
A zoo spokesperson described the young panda as bold and feisty.
