A Pennsylvania lawmaker wants to honor country music legend Dolly Parton with a holiday of her own.

State Rep. Ben Waxman (D-District 182) is seeking co-sponsors for legislation that would recognize Sept. 25 as “Dolly Parton Day” in Pennsylvania.
In a memo, Waxman praises Parton for her music career and philanthropy, including her Imagination Library, which gave thousands of Pennsylvania children access to books.

“To recognize all that Dolly Parton stood for, I will be introducing a resolution to recognize September 25, 2026 (9/25) as ‘Dolly Parton Day’ in Pennsylvania,” Waxman’s memo reads. “Please join me in acknowledging the impact Dolly Parton’s music and life had on people throughout Pennsylvania and the United States.”
Parton died at the age of 80 Aug. 25 following a brief battle with cancer.
