PLUM, Pa. — Community members gathered at Nesbit Lanes in Plum for the second annual “Strike Out ALS” fundraiser to support local resident Matt Tomlinson.
Tomlinson, a Plum High School graduate, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), formerly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, nearly three years ago.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will help the family purchase a conversion van. The specialized vehicle is needed so Tomlinson’s family can transport his motorized wheelchair and travel together more easily.
Tomlinson and his family said they were overwhelmed by the response and community turnout at the bowling alley.
“I can’t thank the community enough for showing up,” Tomlinson said.
