SHALER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A West Deer resident is facing his 10th DUI charge after allegedly driving an SUV while intoxicated into a police station parking lot on Saturday.

Shaler police arrested Brian Ballantine, 55, after finding him parked in the middle of the department’s lot during a board of commissioners meeting.

When police approached Ballantine’s vehicle, they asked him what was going on, and he said, “sure,” according to the complaint. Police said they asked him the same thing again, and he replied, ”nothing."

The first responding officer said they noticed an open 25 oz Natty Daddy beer can in the cupholder, and another crushed on the floor of the vehicle.

The officer then asked Ballantine if he knew where he was, and he responded, “Yeah, I’m having fun,” police said.

According to the criminal complaint, the officer asked Ballantine for his driver’s license, but he said he only had a photo ID. He later admitted that his driver’s license was suspended for DUI.

When Ballantine was asked how much he had to drink, he said, “nothing,” then followed with, “bud, I’ve only had two drinks,” the complaint states.

Ballantine was then asked to step out of the vehicle, where police said he was unable to stand and kept almost falling over.

Police later reviewed camera footage, which showed Ballantine pulling into the parking lot, nearly striking another vehicle driving down Wetzel Road. According to the criminal complaint, once he was stopped, he stumbled out of his vehicle and urinated. While sitting in his vehicle, Ballantine was seen taking 3 sips of the Natty Daddy that was in his cupholder.

The current charge against Ballantine has been classified as a felony. Three of his nine previous DUI convictions occurred within the past 10 years.

Ballantine has also been charged with open lewdness and driving with a suspended license.

Court documents show he is currently in the Allegheny County Jail, where he was unable to post bail.
