Windows of downtown Pittsburgh business shattered during fight between teens

PITTSBURGH — A downtown salon was left with a boarded-up window following a fight involving teenagers.

Joe Cardamone, owner of Cardamone’s hair salon on Forbes Avenue, told Channel 11 that kids are getting out of school and getting out of hand.

“It’s awful,” said Cardamone. “The kids were arguing out front here. We were in here working with our clients, then a fight broke out and then someone went through the window!”

Glass shards were left on the floor of the salon and some pieces, still hanging from the window frame.

“It felt like a bomb came through here,” said Cardamone. “Some clients left. They were uncomfortable.

According to Pittsburgh police, officers broke up the fight and separated the teens.

Cardamone, who has been in business for 45 years, told Channel 11 he had never experienced anything like this. He said violent and unruly teens are becoming the norm downtown.

“I don’t know what the answer is. I’d say go home!”

The two boys involved in this fight were cited for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
