NORTH BRADDOCK, Pa. — A dog was mauled to death and its owner was injured in a dog attack in North Braddock Monday night.
Sheila White was walking her Jack Russell terrier, Ashton, near a house on Copeland Street when a pit bull jumped over a brick wall and attacked both of them.
White was taken by ambulance to an area hospital where she said she was given 10 shots to treat her injuries. Ashton did not survive the attack.
“I lost my companion, my dog. I don't have children. That was my child,” said White.
She said despite her screams for help, the pit bull’s owner never came out of the house.
According to police, the same dog attacked another animal within the past month on another street.
The owner can pick up the dog from Animal Control in 10 days, but police are petitioning to have the pit bull deemed dangerous, and euthanized.
A citation will be issued to the dog’s owner, police said.
