Man still on run after fleeing from US marshals, also wanted for Wilkinsburg shooting

PITTSBURGH — A man wanted for fleeing police and the U.S. marshals, and crashing a truck in East Liberty during the chase is also wanted in connection with a shooting last fall in Wilkinsburg.

Police said Herbert Walker is considered a suspect in the shooting death of 22-year-old Mager Rainey on Oct. 20, 2019. Rainey was shot and killed in a car on Jeannette Street after he and two women left a nearby home. Investigators said the shooter fired multiple gunshots into the car before taking off. The women were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries.

On Feb. 13, the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force spotted Walker, and a pursuit began. He allegedly crashed a truck he was driving at the intersection of Euclid and Hays in East Liberty before running off. Two nearby schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution. Two police cruisers were also hit during that chase.
