“We don't know what the guy’s motive was or what put him up to it, but it was just odd it happened, especially on Memorial Day weekend,” Choice Auto Sales owner Kirk Rettger said.
Rettger said the man seemed to choose vehicles at random, scratching them with an object.
He said a couple of Mercedes Benzes, a Land Rover, a Porsche and a couple of BMWs were among the eight vehicles left with massive scratches on their sides. Rettger estimated that the total cost of repairs was $8,000.
Rettger told Channel 11 News that the damage will ultimately decrease the value of each vehicle.
"And the problem that we have is the more expensive vehicles when they're painted up and repainted, it effects the value in an adverse way,” he said.
The dealership is offering up a $500 reward in the hope that someone will recognizes the man caught on camera.
"We're hoping that entices someone to come forward, and we find out what his reasoning was for doing what he did,” Rettger said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Westmoreland County police.
