Snow showers, wind gusts could impact New Year’s Eve plans

PITTSBURGH — Snow showers will continue to fall this evening and may be heavy in spots. Rain may mix in with the snow at times, especially near and south of Pittsburgh. Temperatures will hover in the low 30s with breezy winds through evening. Expect reduced visibility in heavy snow showers.

If you’re out celebrating tonight, plan on temperatures in the low 30s with wind chills in the teens and low 20s. Snow will begin to stick tonight, especially in the heaviest bursts. Untreated surfaces may get slick so drive with caution.

Cities like Butler and areas north, along with the ridges, to see about 1 to 2 inches of snow with isolated higher totals of 3 inches. Other locations will generally see an inch of snow or less through Wednesday.

Wednesday morning will bring the chance for a few flurries or lingering snow showers. Snow showers may linger longer in the ridges and near I-80. Otherwise, we’ll see decreasing clouds and breezy conditions.
